The North-east District Association of the Scottish Golf Union’s (SGU) annual meeting was attended by 30 club representatives.

It was a big increase on recent years and no doubt the result of the enterprising move of offering free golf and lunch at Deeside Golf Club prior to the annual meeting on Sunday.

Jim Hunter (Ballater) is staying on as district president for an extra year following the resignation earlier in the year of the vice-president.

David Fleming (Portlethen) is the new vice-president.

Angus Lee (Murcar Links) and Billy Sim (Craibstone) were elected to the district committee from which Brian Ritchie (Inverallochy) stood down prior to the meeting

Secretary George Young reported that the district is back “on a sound financial footing.”
