Pro-wrestling is set to debut in Laurencekirk as north-east group WrestleZone get ready to rumble in the ring later this month.

Top wrestlers such as Scotty Swift, Kaden Garrick and Mr P will be in bodyslamming action at the St Laurence Hall on Saturday, July 16.

The Aberdeen-based promotion run events across the North-east of Scotland, with the family-friendly action always proving popular with wrestling fans of all ages.

One grappler looking to make his mark at the event is “Tenacious” Johnny Lions .

Lions will tackle rival Damien in singles competition intent on securing victory against his former partner.

The grappler added: “Being matched against my biggest rival makes this all the more personal.

“Damien is a weasel and I know he faces a big championship match in a few weeks. But he’s going to find he has an even bigger problem.

“Victory is really important to me, and while I know what to expect from Damien, I’m determined to get the victory over him and take a bite out of his bid to become the Undisputed Champion.”

The bone-crunching action will see six top matches from the WrestleZone group who feature a lot of North-east grapplers in their ranks.

WrestleZone host Martyn Clunes can’t wait for the action to get underway and expects an enthusiastic crowd will be on-hand. “We always like to break new ground and we have wanted to bring wrestling back to Laurencekirk for some time,” he said.

Doors at the St Laurence Hall open at 7pm with the first bell at 7.30pm. Admission is £12 for adults and £10 for under 14s with a chance to meet-the-stars during the half-time interval.
