Mearns Indoor Bowling League - Week 8

We’re well into the campaign now and after week 8 it’s still tight at the top.

The game of the night must be the St.Cyrus v Stoney#2 match, where it was nip & tuck all night, the Stoney skip commented that there was some good bowling & some not so good bowling.

However Stoney#2 got the game to peels going into to the last end & it was a battle to see who could get the winner, St.Cyrus was lying the shot and the Stoney skip tried in vain to get the shot but St.Cyrus skip Robert decided against playing his last bowl which meant they gained 2 points!

Stoney#1 had a comfortable win against a very unfortunate Newtonhill, Bill Barclay was left cursing his luck a few times after a few of his shots were close to get the desired result but it just didn’t go his way.

This all means Stoney#1 remains top but St.Cyrus are only 2 points behind but have a 27 shot advantage, so they are just waiting for Stoney#1 to slip up.

The other winners are Drumlithie, Portlethen IBC, Inverbervie & Fettercairn.

Results: S/Haven BC #1 22-5 Newtonhill, Laurencekirk 12-20 Drumlithie, Portlethen 12-26 Inverbervie, Portlethen IBC 27-6 Auchenblae, St Cyrus 12-12 S/Haven BC #2, Johnshaven 12-19 Fettercairn.

Fixtures scheduled for February 9: Fettercairn v Drumlithie, St Cyrus v Newtonhill, Johnshaven v Inverbervie, Laurencekirk v Auchenblae, Portlethen v S/Haven BC #2, Portlethen IBC v S/Haven BC #1
