Banchory Stonehaven AC athletes competed in the Scottish Athletics National Championships in August and returned with a clutch medals.
Kathryn Christie, 19, from Finzean, is now the Scottish Senior Champion for the second time. Competing in gale force winds and driving rain at the Ayrshire Athletics Arena, Kilmarnock, she won both the 100m and 200m emphatically, to bring home two gold medals.
A week later, another gold was won for her winning performance of 23.55 in the 200m at the Senior UK Inter Counties Track and Field Championships in Bedford.
The Age Group Championships were held at the Aberdeen Sports Village where 15 year old Alisha Rees from Torphins won gold in the u17 100m and 200m.
Her winning time (wind assisted) of 11.55 in the 100m is the fastest recorded time run in the UK this year for that age group.
Her 200m time of 24.57 was just a fraction off her PB of 24.54. Alisha will be competing for Scotland in the 100m and relay at the Sainsburys UK School games in Manchester on September 5.
Craig Strachan from Finzean won silver in the 75H u13 boys, in a personal best time of 13.17. Rory Stewart from Lumphanan won bronze in the U17 javelin with a PB throw of 40.79m and Banchory’s Maddie Furnival won two bronze medals in the u17 Long (5.13m) and Triple jump, (10.02m).
