Youngsters of the Newtonhill Kirk JAFFA group (Jesus A Friend For All) took part in sponsored one mile run last Thursday, April 28.

The one mile run round the village was to raise money for Sports Relief and so far £183 has been raised with more still to come in.

Colin Young from Newtonhill Kirk got in touch with the Mearns Leader this week and told us that everyone had fun on the run. He said: “Everyone had great fun and there was some excellent fast running demonstrated – indeed some enthusiasts could have run much further than the designated circuit.

“So far £183 has been raised but much more money has still to come in so the final total will not be known for some time.”

JAFFA is a fun based group ran by the church for children of primary school age.

JAFFA meets in the church every Thursday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm for all children of Primary School age (to 8.15pm for children from P5 –P7).
