374 entrants took part in the the 31st Stonehaven Half Marathon, which is recognised as one of the tougher events in the Scottish racing calendar.
Mineralwell Park saw the highest turnout in recent years, and 2016 saw a new route incorporated into the footrace with a four mile off-road section in Fetteresso.
The men’s race, was won by Stephen Allan of Kirkintilloch setting the first record for the new course in a time of 1:17:44. Second was Tom Brian of Metro Aberdeen in a time of 1:18:34 and third was Roger Clark in 1:19:43. Despite the 15% extra climb Stephens winning time was comfortably ahead of last year’s first place time.
Carolyn McLeod was the first woman home in a time of 1:26:25. This was only one second slower than her winning time from last year and represents her sixth win at the event. Second was Virginie Barrand of Metro Aberdeen in 1:27:38 and third was Anne Hartmann in 1:29:12.
