The A&K League teams made a slight improvement last week by getting the bonus point for an aggregate shots win over Pitmedden BC.

Jim Roddie’s home team won by eight shots but the away team led by Graeme Penny went down by four –so we still wait patiently for an away win this season.

Saturday’s County match between Aberdeen and Kincardineshire and Angus drew a big crowd as expected and, after 126 ends and four hours of great bowling, the match was won by Angus with their last bowl which turned the jack through the head slightly to turn a two-shot deficit into a single-shot victory.

A&K will be disappointed to lose the match after holding a 10-shot advantage with only six ends remaining.

Highland County now have a 31-shot advantage over Perthshire at the top of the North Section after crushing Buchan County by 143 to 89.

Last week’s Seniors match saw the Stonehaven team keep their unbeaten record and winning all four rinks by defeating Aberdeen BC by 86 shots to 41 at Aberdeen.

Individual rink scores were (Stonehaven skips first): G. Buchan 17, H. Ritchie 16; J. Lawson 21, J. Christie 9; M. Nevill 19, A. Taylor 7; R. Harrison 29, J. Bonner 9.

The 2x2 Pairs Competition reaches the final stage next Tuesday and the handpicked pairs of Bill Davie/Dod Buchan and Ian Jamieson/Jim Roddie look favourites to reach that stage.
