A week past Saturday, Stonehaven Golf Club Gents section hosted their annual prize-giving evening, with over 70 members in attendance in the clubhouse.

After a hearty, delicious carvery meal, served up by caterer Gary Wilkie, the handover of the various trophies took place all being presented by club Captain Terry Middleton.

Club champion for the sixth time spanning a 30-year period, Neil Irvine, closed the prize-giving part of the evening with his champion’s speech.

The entertainment on the evening was served up by after-dinner speaker Sandy Strang.

Although there has been a great deal of rain in the past fortnight, the course is standing up to the conditions fairly well, but players are reminded to take heed of the roped-off areas, to prevent any further deterioration.

The winter league remains uninterrupted, so far, with continued good form being shown by Grant Robb and Graeme McFarlane in the scratch doubles. However, the score of the weekend was made by Barry McGillivary and Stuart Dempster breaking through the 60 barrier, recording a gross 59.

In the handicap section, Kevin Boyne and Kenny Gordon recorded a nett 59 with Bongo achieving a personal first of parring his way around the Gulley holes.

Scoring in the singles also remains keen with three players on the forty one point mark, all the scores can be viewed on the notice board.
