Stonehaven have their work cut to catch leaders

A poor result for Stonehaven against Bervie BC in last Thursday’s Mearns League fixture means the team now have their work cut out.

They need to catch league leaders St Cyrus BC and Newtonhill BC with only four games remaining.

The home team went down by 12 shots and the away team by nine for a zero points score and a couple of five-point results are now badly needed.

The Seniors team went to Polmuir BC on Friday and scored a narrow two-shot win with two of the matches drawn.

Individual rink scores were: H. McGillivray 21, W. Morrison 12; J. Lawson 19, R Orchard 19; A McAllister 17, J. Cameron 17; R. Smith 14, J. Milton 20

There is a notice and entry sheet in the clubhouse for Seniors who wish to be considered for selection in the Mearns County team. A trial match has been arranged for later in the month at Stonehaven.

This Sunday, the annual Open Day will get under way at the Recreation Grounds at 12.30pm and a good turn out of visitors and members is expected. The seven ender will start at 1pm and names should be entered by Saturday evening. There are also plenty of stalls including tombola and a BBQ. There are also still some spaces left for Men’s Teams wishing to enter the well--sponsored I.T.S Open Rinks competition scheduled for Saturday, July 19.
