The 2013/2014 season for Newtonhill Netball Club ended with the under-15 team winning the Aberdeen and District league title.

After a slow start in this Netball Association top of the table clash against Ellon, the girls were four goals behind going into the final quarter. Their-never-say-die attitude, saw them pull back the deficit to run out 18-16 winners.

In November, one of the club’s coaches, Mhairi Shanks, won Sportscotland’s Grampian Young Volunteer of the Year award and the club was highly commended by Netball Scotland in the junior club of the year category.

In March, the club was delighted to be a finalist in the Club of the Year category at the Aberdeenshire Sports Council awards.

nfortunately, the club lost out to Huntly Nordic Ski Club, who, with a number of Olympians in their ranks, were worthy winners.
