The new youth football season is a matter of days away and some things never change. Clubs are putting the final touches to their season plans. There’s a last minute scurry to find players; organising friendly matches; getting kit and equipment sorted out; discussing your team’s prospects with allies and foes. But for the first time all of these have a new common denominator – the Youth Football Scotland website.
No matter what your need is; whether you are a player, coach, team official, parent or referee; you will find it in the same place – www.youthfootballscotland.co.uk – without paying a penny.
YFS, a not for profit social enterprise, is driven by volunteers for volunteers. And it has an array of exciting features which will hit computer screens across Scotland in the coming months. Online video highlights from tournaments and matches; competitions offering top notch kit and equipment; audio podcasts and interviews with the people who matter in the grass roots game; live updates from youth matches; and much more.
Still being sought are clubs and volunteers to play a pivotal role in proceedings. Clubs can sign up for free by contacting Club Relationship Manager Brian McNally on firstname.lastname@example.org or 0131 629-7903.
McNally said: “We found that all too often good news didn’t spread outwith the club, never mind the region. Last season, a great example was the incredible inaugural Dennis Law Soccer Tournament held in Aberdeen to great acclaim. We were able to get the news out to the rest of the grass roots football community, giving the hard working volunteers and aspiring young players the credit they deserved, and providing inspiration for other clubs across the country.”
The volunteer opportunities are plentiful and varied, and give people the chance to give something back to youth sport, whilst boosting their own portfolio.
Whether you are a club, player, coach, parent or just interested spectator, YFS has something for everyone. Log on to www.youthfootballscotland.co.uk to sample it all.
