The third round of the Stonehaven club championship eventually got played last Friday night after being fogged off on the Wednesday.
Although it stayed dry strong winds made scoring very difficult. Paul Lindeman, the second round leader, was able to extend his lead from one to three strokes with a steady score of 71.
Scott Murray and Craig Irvine maintained their joint second position with scores of 73. Defending champion Bruce Ferguson with a best score of the night 67 also joined them in that position. Two strokes further behind was Iain Taylor and Colin Arthur in fifth place. The final round has been played this Wednesday - report in full next week.
Special praise must go to Scott Murray’s performance. Last Wednesday Scott played in the North East boys Strokeplay Championship at Auchmill. By finishing fourth Scott qualified for the matchplay championship which took place on the same day as our 3rd round club championship.

Last week the men played an away match at Lumphanan in the Deeside League. Historically Stonehaven find it very difficult to take anything away from this match and on this occasion it was no different. Stonehaven took three of the matches to the 18th hole but were only able to come away with a half point.
