Referee course to start

A recruitment drive is starting in the area in an attempt to encourage more people to take up refereeing.

In line with their practice over the past few seasons, SFA Referees - Aberdeen is running a course for new referees, now that the season is drawing to a close.

Having successfully recruited ex players to the refereeing movement recently - Graeme Jack, Kenny Taylor and Martin Fowler are the most obvious examples - the idea is to encourage those players at the end of their playing career, either at Juvenile, Amateur or Welfare level, to consider taking up the whistle.

The course will start on Monday June 6 in The Malt Mill Lounge, Holburn Street, Aberdeen at 7.00 pm. It will consist of 8 sessions, each lasting 2 hours, followed by written and oral examinations and a practical session.

The aim is to have the successful candidates available to start refereeing at the beginning of the new season in August.

Interested parties should contact the Course Instructor, Roddy Cobb on 07769 636400 or roddycobb@sky.com. Further details are available on the Association website:
