Steve wins the RNLI Medal

It was RNLI medal day on Saturday at Stonehaven Golf Club and it turned into a keenly contested competition. Seventeen players either equalled or beat the CSS of 65. There was a two-way tie at the top of the leaderboard with Steve McGhie and Richard Hampson both scoring nett 61s. Steve ended up the winner by way of a better inward half. In joint third place, one stroke behind, were Jim Adam, George Forrester and Denis Daun.

The men played in the quarter-finals of the Plus Fours trophy - a 5 man scratch knockout competition between Deeside clubs. Stonehaven played Inchmarlo at home on Sunday and were successful 4.5 to 0.5. They will now play Banchory away in the semi-final.

Results: Scott Murray beat G Milne 6&5, Ross Anderson beat E Allan 2&1, Barry McGillivray beat G Craig 4&3, Gordon Adamson drew with I Taylor, Neil Irvine beat C Hannan 3&2.

In the Inter club home match against Westhills the Seniors had a very good 4-2 win, this win now makes their inter club match record to date 5 Wins, 2 draws and one defeat.

While playing in the Wednesday stableford competition, Drew Hamilton had a hole in one at the 190 yard 6th hole using a 3 wood. He was partnered by Ian Hastie.

Members are reminded to get their names in for the junior open on Monday 8th August, the re-arranged men’s open on 13th August and the Ruby Stephen mixed foursomes on 14th August.
