Stonehaven Amateur Swimming Club (SASC) recently held their annual club championships at the Stonehaven Leisure Centre pool.
There were 50 swimmers taking part and they swam a total of 238 swims and gained 138 personal bests. This was an outstanding achievement following a very successful year for the club, a year that saw two of their swimmers gain international honours. Sarah Hamilton represented Scotland in the 2010 Commonwealth Games and Pamela Beck represented Great Britain in an open water event in Italy, showing the younger members of the club what can be achieved.
In addition to Medals presented for 1st. 2nd and 3rd places, awards were also achieved by the swimmers with best overall performances in each age group category from 8-17 years.
Sarah Hamilton presented awards to some of the swimmers.
The club is always looking for new swimmers. For anyone interested, the next trials will be held on Tuesday 28th June at 6.00pm. The swimmers should be there at 5.30pm to register and get poolside beforehand.
To qualify for trials you should be aged 10 years or under, can swim 50m Frontcrawl, Backcrawl & Breaststroke and dive and attempt butterfly and tumble turns.
