Testimonial match to honour Murdoch

A testimonial match was held on Saturday to mark 20 seasons of service to Luthermuir FC by Murdoch Anderson.

The game was between the current Luthermuir team and guests and a select side brought together by former Luthermuir player Eric Watson, now captain of Cove Rangers FC.

Early in the game, Anderson and Hood went close for Luthermuir and Calum Watson did the same for the select.

The powerful select side scored in 13 minutes through Paul Tosh and through Bryan Forbes five minutes later.

Ryan Arthur and Calum Watson went close to adding to the select’s tally before half-time.

Nineteen minutes into the second half Colin Kennedy made it 3-0 with a drive which went in off the post.

In the second half, select keeper Davie Robertson saved from Frazer Cerretti, then Euan Duff headed over.

Robertson saved with his feet from Jai Clayton, then Cerretti volleyed over.

Murdoch Anderson had a header and a shot saved during the game and it looked as if he was going to get a goal in the final minute when Eric Watson brought dow Cerretti in the box, but veteran goalkeeper Robertson dived to his left to save Anderson’s penalty-kick.
