University Colts 1 Stonehaven Athletic 3 IT was back to League business this week for Athletic after the Cup defeat to Great Western United last Saturday and another three valuable points were gained with this victory over Colts.
The visitors were determined to continue their good form which has seen them steadily climb the league after such a bad start and they got off the mark after 20 minutes when JOLLY hammered a great 25 yards shot past the home keeper to put Athletic one up.
Athletic pressed for a second but despite prompting from Milne and Stewart, they could not increase their lead before the break.
Rose was replaced by FULTON at the start of the second period and he soon got his name on the score sheet when he ran onto a through ball and coolly beat the advancing keeper from eight yards.
Up until this point Colts had not looked like scoring, but they were given a helping hand when under no pressure, Holtes knocked the ball past the helpless Anderson to make the score 2-1.
Colts gained in confidence and would have equalised but for a good save by Anderson. Athletic brought on Sean Strachan and Cohen in an effort to get a third and it was STRACHAN who got the goal to secure the points, showing great determination to hold off a defender and beat the keeper from six yards.
Athletic held on for a comfortable if unspectacular win much to the delight of the management team of Cameron and Wark.
