U13 Girls battle hard

ON Saturday, Stonehaven U13 Girls took on Buchan Quines in the league and lost 5-2.

This was classic end to end football with the result in doubt right up until the last 5 minutes. Stonie dominated the first half but went in at half-time with only a sublime Ann Laing left foot strike to show for this.

With a tactical change Buchan’s talented goalie played outfield and the tide slowly turned.

Buchan went 2-1 up but Lisa Porter touched in the equaliser. A mix up led to Buchan regaining the lead and they scored two late goals on the break as Stonie charged forward.

Player of the Match was Ailsa Adams, whose first half display just shades it.

on Sunday the team took on Kingsford at Hazelhead in a friendly and won 4-1.

A dominant display from a young Stonie side right from the start. A lung bursting pitch length Townsend run led to Lucy McVey opening the scoring and she soon doubled the score before Kingsford pulled one back. Two excellent Erin Henderson strikes saw Stonie seal victory.
