UNITED CLINCH PROMOTION

Bankhead 2 Mearns United 2 MEARNS United clinched the precious point which gave them promotion last Wednesday when they fought out a scrappy draw with Bankhead.

Bankhead took the lead when Black came out of his goal and only suceeded in kicking the ball to an opponent who found the net.

Mearns equalised when Craig Irvine beat two players and scored from 18 yards.

Mearns took the lead before half-time. Whyte was brought down and Ryan Stewart drove the ball home from the spot.

The home side drew level 15 minutes from time when Mearns gave the ball away.

The result was all that mattered as Mearns held on for the promotion point.
