Youngsters turn out for Street Football
A SUMMER initiative to keep young people active throughout the holidays attracted a bumper crowd of participants in its first week.
The Street Football and COMET initiative, which kicked off last week, has been developed by Aberdeenshire Council, Grampian Police and Pillar, and is supported by funding from Aberdeenshire Community Safety.
Around 40 young people turned-up to the session in Stonehaven on Wednesday night, with another 30 attending at the Bervie session the following day.
The mobile sports arena brings a range of sporting activities to towns and villages throughout Aberdeenshire and aims to improve participation in sporting events.
The events will run for the duration of the summer holidays and take place outside Stonehaven Leisure Centre on Wednesday nights from 7pm to 7.30pm for primary school aged children and 7.30pm until 9.30pm for secondary school young people.
Similarly the football unit and COMET van are outside the Inverbervie Leisure Centre on Thursdays from 7pm to 7.30pm for primary school children, then 7.30pm to 9pm for young people of secondary school age.
Pictured are some of the young people who attended last Thursday's Street Football session in Inverbervie.
