Forget T in the Park, Rockness, Reading and Leeds, Stonehaven’s 10th Party in the Park is due to take place this weekend.

Party in the Park on Sunday will be a whole day of music and family fun with the event taking place again at Mineralwell Park.

The party, celebrating 10 years, is organised by Ma Simpson’s and will start at noon and finish at around 8pm.

Funds raised will go towards building a kidney dialysis unit in the town, a project which, after several years of fundraising, is nearing its target.

For some musicians, the fundraising for the unit has a personally touch.

Stuart Leon, who plays with the band Eric Euan, was on kidney dialysis before he had a successful y transplant and is due to play this weekend.

Also, one of the nurses from the kidney dialysis unit is playing fiddle this weekend with the band Well.

One act is making a return to Party in the Park having played at the inaugural event.

Kit Purnell, who is playing in OK taxi, was there in 2004.

We reported last month how the raffle for Party in the Park will contain a signed guitar by Status Quo frontmen, Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt.

Ma Simpson’s music shop in Stonehaven - who have had the signed guitar on display - have been selling raffle tickets and one lucky winner will take home the guitar when it is drawn during the event this coming Sunday.

Entrance is £7 standard, £5 concession and £25 for a family ticket which covers two adults and up to four concessions Tickets from Ma Simpson’s or online at www.masimpsons.com
