A raised stage, marquee and outdoor heater to be made available for disabled people are to be purchased by the team behind Stonehaven’s Hogmanay event ‘Open Air in the Square,’ after councillors agreed to a grant of £3000 to help pay for the equipment.

The marquee and heater were hired for last year’s event, but organisers said that they could purchase the equipment for the same cost, just over £6000, and save themselves money in the future.

Elaine Ewen ,from Stonehaven Festivals and Events, addressed the Kincardine and Mearns area committee on Tuesday, and said: “The raised stage, marquee and outdoor heater could be used by the wider community for other events aswell, and it makes a huge difference to those with limited mobility at these types of event.”
