A Stonehaven leading man is swapping the Market Square for the Cannes Film Festival next week with a starring role in Whistle My Lad.
Andrew Cameron, an ex Mill O’Forest and Mackie Academy pupil, has a starring role in the 20-minute film which had a special screening at Union Square on Monday past.
The 21-year-old plays Fraser Wiseman, a strong-willed young man who falls in love with Agnes West, the daughter of his father’s rival.
The film heads to the famous festival next week which will draw attention to - and raise - the profile of the film to a much bigger audience.
Andrew spoke to the Mearns Leader this week and said he felt very fortunate to be in this position.
He added: “Working on the film really didn’t feel like work.
‘‘The team behind the scenes really were the A team and they brought a lot of energy to the film.
“I feel really fortunate to be in this position and I’d love to thank the drama department at the schools for really helping me. I don’t think they get enough credit for what they do.
“The support for the film has been overwhelming and I would just like to say thank you to everyone who has supported this.”
