Budding young amateur theatre stars are being sought for a Mearns production of the hit musical Oliver! with open auditions this weekend.

Laurencekirk Amateur Musical Society are to be performing OLIVER! in the St Laurence Hall from Tuesday 24th - Saturday 28th June 2014, and they are hoping that talented young locals will come forward on Saturday February 1 during a day of workshops and auditions seeking out performers for the show.

Susan Hughes, who is Chairperson of the Society as well as director and choreographer for OLIVER, said: “We are now looking for boys and girls aged 9-15 years to participate in our production, and we are holding a youth Workshop and auditions on Saturday February 1 in the Dickson Hall, Laurencekirk. Registration is at 9.30am and the children will be doing some singing, movement and acting over the course of the morning and hopefully having lots of fun along the way.”

“After the success of our two previous productions, Bad Girls and FAME, we are delighted to be doing a show that also involves youth performers. LAMS is a vibrant company with a wealth of talent who always put on shows of the highest standard and we know OLIVER will be just as successful. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday February 1 at 9.30am.”
