Stonehaven Chorus will present a concert celebrating 25 years with conductor and composer, Dr John Hearne, this Sunday, May 11.
The concert at 7.30 pm in St James’ Church, Stonehaven, will feature guest artists from the Aberdeen Sinfonietta and Aberdeenshire baritone, Gordon Jack.
The programme includes Dr Hearne’s arrangement of four Icelandic songs, ‘Summernights in the Fjords,’ and the first performance of his suite ‘Dream Riders’ for chorus and orchestra, which was commissioned by the Society for this event.
Other ‘a cappella’ pieces include anthems and choral songs by Rachmaninov, Sibelius, Paul Mealor, Frederik Sixten and Mendelsshon.
Tickets are available from Giulianotti’s, Evan Street, Stonehaven, from choir members and on the door on the night of the concert.
The Stonehaven Chorus is a mixed voice choir of around 50 members living in and around the coastal town of Stonehaven, near Aberdeen.
