The Chapelton Box Park initiative has been added by the developers behind the growing Aberdeenshire town and will see a series of outlets open from this summer in Burgess Park, including a barber, delicatessen and green grocer.

The retail area has proved popular, with three units already snapped up by local businesses keen to make the most of the opportunity.

Delicatessen Wander & Graze, which offers bespoke grazing platters, was one of the first to register interest, followed by Mr Dun, a barbers which forms part of the successful James Dun’s House salon & spa. Green grocer ‘Clementine’, which first opened in Broughty Ferry in 2010, will also be joining the scheme. More businesses have expressed interest and will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

The Chapelton Boxpark is a low cost means for small businesses to sell directly their products and services and forms part of Chapelton’s commitment to creating a supportive and self-sufficient environment where the community can live, work and play.

Already in existence in the town is The Croft Nursery School that has gained a five star rating, The Lounge beauty and hair salon and Teacake, a highly popular coffee shop and bistro.

The Duke of Fife, Director of Elsick Development Company which is leading the build of Chapelton, said: “We already have examples of thriving retail units in Chapelton as well as live/work spaces, such as the offices above garages, and this is the next step in growing the community.

“The initiative has already been popular. We can’t wait for the businesses to open this summer and share the additional units that will also be opening in coming weeks.”

The Chapelton Box Park follows Chapelton’s long-standing farmers’ market – an event that takes place four times a year and sees over 25 stallholders showcase some of the very best produce and products from across the North East.
