For a quite extraordinary and (quite possibly) world-beating 39th consecutive time, the evergreen Jimmy McAllan will “hauder-in” the haggis at the Stonehaven Fatherland Burns Club Supper.
The eventat the Station Hotel starts at 7 for 7.30pm next Wednesday, January 21.
The club’s unique name reflects the fact that the poet’s ancestors farmed around the short watershed of the Carron Water at Stonehaven until his father, William, moved to Ayrshire - and the rest is history.
The evening will not disappoint, with the Immortal Memory being proposed by immediate past president of the Robert Burns World Federation Jane Brown of the Globe Inn at Dumfries, a favourite ‘howff’ of the bard.
Jane will be ably assisted by Fettercairn’s unique and irrepressible Jim Brown and others including well loved local singers Jean and Peter Webster.
The change of venue from the former Carron Restaurant has allowed the club to add an extra 20 seats to its former full-house ceiling of 81 members and guests, so don’t delay.
The ticket price is £26 and includes a full three-course meal and of course the entertainment.
Anyone wishing to attend should contact club treasurer Russell Adams as soon as possible on 01569-668958.
