A Stonehaven resident celebrated her 100th Birthday in style at the weekend.

Ann Hall, who was born on April 13 1913, celebrated her Century with two parties; one in Stonehave where she is now a resident and another in her previous hometown of Aberdeen. Miss Hall, who never married, celebrated at the Hilton Doubletree on Saturday night surrounded by friends and family. Some of whom had travelled from Norway to be with her on her special day.

She also held a party in McDonald court, Stonehaven, where she now lives. She spent the day celebrating with her neighbours and other residents of the complex.

Miss Hall says she had a “wonderful” birthday and received lots of lovely cards and presents.

From one well wisher she received one hundred pound coins- one for every year she has been alive. She also received a telegram from the Queen to mark the ocassion.

Originally from Aberdeen, Miss Hall worked as a housekeeper and, although she had no children of her own, she helped to raise the homeowners three children who she describes as her family.

She moved to Stonehaven about thirty years ago.

Miss Hall is still very active and enjoys knitting. She certainly doesn’t look her age and when asked what her secret is she just smiles and says there isn’t one. But she did explain she never wore any make-up and so maybe that is the secret to staying young.
