Five friends from Auchenblae have teamed up as the ‘Chicks with Sticks’ to face the Caledonian Challenge walk next month.

They are hoping to raise over £2000 in the process for Foundation Scotland, a charity which funds small grass roots community projects.

The Caledonian Challenge entails walking 54 miles along the Great Glen Way and the West Highland Way, all in less than 24 hours, a distance which leaves many entrants with huge blisters and no toenails!

The team consists of Isabelle Riddoch, Gillian Milne, Margo Titmuss, Sue Barrie and Ara Murray, and they have been doing plenty of long training walks together in preparation for the June 14 event.

The ‘Chicks with Sticks’ are very grateful to the owners of Fasque House who are allowing them to hold an afternoon tea fundraiser there on June 8, tickets for which were an instant sell-out.

They have also organised a grand raffle which will be drawn at this event. First prize is a one hour flight in a light aircraft, with runners up receiving vouchers for a holiday break at Glensaugh, wine tasting for 15 and cash of £100. There are also many other wonderful prizes to be won.

Tickets are available from team members or from the Auchenblae village shop. Anyone wishing to support the team may do so by visiting
