Auchenblae Gala week starts on Sunday with an afternoon for the children at the football pitch where there will be kite flying and races with prizes for all.
At 6.30 pm in the Church there will be a Diamond Jubilee Gala Service with music from Brechin City Brass Band accompanying hymn singing.
On Monday there’s a Children’s Walking Treasure Hunt round the village starting at 6pm from the village hall.
The week progresses with a Quiz Night with a Royal theme on Tuesday, a Bingo Session on Thursday, Children’s Parties and Disco on Friday and Saturday is the Gala Day when the community gathers in the Den to enjoy the usual stalls as well as the Pavilion Teas and BBQ.
Much anticipated is music from The Trybe, back by popular request. The trio will be playing between 1pm and 3 pm when they have to head back to Stonehaven for their slot at the Feein’ Market.
The annual five hundred Duck Derby takes place in the Luther River which runs through the Den and will be held mid afternoon.
As a symbolic finale to mark Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee 250 balloons in patriotic red, white and blue colours will be released at the end of the afternoon. Balloons cost £1 each with a £50 prize for the one that travels furthest. Numbers can be pre booked by contacting Margo on 01561 320808.
