Stonehaven Town Partnership (STP) are on the lookout for more volunteers to help with the land train as they look to extend service.
At the moment, the land train operates seven days a week with plans to finish up at the end of September.
However, this week the Leader was contacted by STP asking for help in locating more conductors and storytellers so the service could be extended.
STP’s Isabel Munn said : “Stonehaven Town Partnership is hoping to keep it running until the end of the tattie holidays in October, if there are enough conductors to keep it going.
‘‘Most of our original conductors have now gone back to college and university.
“There is a script that tells the passengers about some of the history of Stonehaven, and they need to have an interest in Stoney and have a cheery disposition!
“Currently, the train is running three times in the morning and three in the afternoons (10am, 11am, noon, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm)
“Students and active retirees are all welcome to apply, and we have funding to pay people or we are also very happy to have volunteers.’’
