Mearns Camera Club’s third open competition of the 2011-13 session was judged on Monday night at their first weekly meeting of 2013, in Stonehaven Community Centre.
Judge Mike Hall LRPS from Torphins, who had judged Mearns club competitions before, said he enjoyed looking at the work and found them interesting and good fun.
Mike also added that the standard was very high with a lot of quality images on view. His comments on the images were insightful and mainly supportive. Top results on the night were: Black and White Print 3rd ‘The Face In The Mask’ by Alan Gawthorpe 18 points; 2nd ‘Old Fishing Boat at St Cyrus’ by Mark Woodfin 19 points; 1st ‘Chillaxing’ by Allan Sutherland 20 points.
Coloured Print 3rd ‘Korean War Memorial’ by Russell Adams 18 points; 2nd ‘Blustery day at St Cyrus’ by Alan Bellarby 19 points; 1st ‘The Flat Iron’ by Brian Doyle 20 points.
Projected Digital Image 3rd ‘Kathryn’ by John McSevney 18 points; 2nd ‘Forgotten’ By Ian Wood 19 points; 1st ‘Louis’ by Brian Doyle 20 points.
Malcolm Stevens gave Mike a vote of thanks, commenting on his obvious passion for photography, the hard work he had put in to judging the entries and the quality of his considered comments.
