Community Life launch day at ASDA

ASDA Portlethen has officially launched it’s community life programme as the new Community life notice board got up and running in the store.

The Portlethen store’s Community Life Colleague, Lorraine Sangster, explained how the initiative will provide information to the local community but will also support local causes.

Every two months three charities will be represented on the Community life board within ASDA Portlethen and shoppers will be provided with tokens which they can use to vote for their favourite cause by placing them in the boxes on the board.

At the end of two months the tokens will be counted and the charities will be awarded £200, £50 or £30 depending on if they come 1st 2nd or 3rd.

The first causes which you can support with the initiative are; Skip Hop, The Portlethen and District Voluntary Community ambulance and the Jubilee Hall.

You can nominate local causes to be entered into the vote in-store.

Lorraine explained how important community activities like this are to the store.

She said: “We have decided to set up this Community Life board and involve the community in what we are doing to support the community.”

Chairman of Portlethen and District Community Council, Ron Sharp, attended the launch of the Community life board on Monday. He explained that the Community Council support the board “Wholeheartedly.”

He said: “We have been crying out for a long time for a for a community notice board. As chairman of the community council it’s frustrating trying to get information across to the public. But this board will be great for getting information across and supporting local causes.”
