BT is proposing to remove the phone box in Bruntland Road, Portlethen. There were seven calls made from there over a 12 month period.
Notices have been placed on the payphones affected - there are more than 100 under threat in Aberdeenshire, but this is the only one in the North Kincardine ward - giving members of the public an opportunity to comment by November 28.
The consultation process gives local communities the opportunity to adopt a kiosk and retain the traditional red ‘heritage’ phone box for £1.
Aberdeenshire Council has forwarded notification to community councils and will collate responses before forwarding to BT. So far only one community has lodged a request to adopt a kiosk in Kincardine and Mearns.
