Appeal for information after Newmachar break-in

Police Scotland is continuing to appeal for information following a theft by housebreaking at the Co-op store, Newmachar, in the early hours of Thursday, June 23.

A quantity of alcohol was taken during the incident which was reported to police at around 3:40am and officers have appealed for anyone who saw a grey-coloured vehicle and a black-coloured vehicle in the area at the time to contact the police.

Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing into the theft of a black-coloured Vauxhall Corsa from the Fyvie area, and also a grey-coloured Citroen C4 which was reported missing from the Methlick area.

Detective Inspector Stuart McAdam said: “These enquiries are still at a very early stage, therefore we are keeping an open mind as to whether these incidents are linked.

“Several positive lines of enquiry are being followed, however I would urge anyone with information about suspicious activity in these areas to contact Police Scotland as a priority.

“Both vehicles were stolen after the keys were taken from insecure properties, therefore I would urge the public to ensure your homes, garages, sheds and vehicles are always locked and secure, and to keep any valuables out of sight. Please do not give thieves a chance.”

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
