Police are reminding home owners to secure their properties at night following some sneak-in thefts in Stonehaven and Inverbervie.

A police spokesperson said: “Residents, particularly at this time of year, should ensure that any presents are kept within their locked homes out of sight.

“Simple crime prevention methods should be considered like using timer switches, locking garages and ensuring vehicles, if parked out with garages, are locked. Again if anything is stored in your vehicle ensure it is out of sight.

“Notify trusted neighbours if you are intending being away from home for a few days to ensure your house is monitored.

“The incidents in the Inverbervie and Stonehaven area happened between 2.30am and 6am on December 17, and members of the public are asked to recall if they saw or heard anything about these times which they thought was suspicious.

“Any information relating to these incidents should be passed to Police Scotland at Stonehaven by using the 101 telephone nember. Anyone wishing to pass information anonymously can use Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.”
