Our very own Dunnottar Castle received an endorsement from one of the North East’s most famous daughters last week.
World famous singer Annie Lennox, who hails from Aberdeen, posted a picture of the castle on her Facebook page on July 6, with the caption: “If ever you’re in the North East of Scotland I highly recommend a visit to Dunnottar Castle near Stonehaven”.
It is unclear exactly when Ms Lennox visited the Castle, and staff said that, had they been aware of the Eurythmics star’s visits, they would have introduced themselves.
Castle custodian Wendy Sylvester commented: “We were delighted to hear that Annie Lennox had visited Dunnottar and that she enjoyed it so much that she wanted to share it with her army of fans on Facebook. We hope next time she visits that she’ll have time to join us for a cup of tea and a blether as we are all huge fans!”
The Facebook post has been ‘liked’ more than 19,500 times, and shared over 1300 times.
Lennox embarked on a solo career in 1992 with her debut album, Diva, which produced several hit singles including “Why” and “Walking on Broken Glass”.
