Dunnottar Castle are to host a special acoustic jam this coming weekend to launch this years Stonehaven Folk Festival.
This Sunday (June 28) will see an hour long gig at the castle with an expected start time of 2pm.
Jonny Hardy, the fiddler with the Old Blind Dogs, Sharron who leads the North East Folk Collective and Jenny Sturgeon a local singer and songwriter will all be playing at the castle.
The Stonehaven Folk Festival runs from Thursday July 9 until Sunday July 12. Dunnottar Castle will be sponsoring the main concert and Ceilidh on the Friday night of festival which will celebrate music from the North East.
If the weather is good on the day the plan is for the musicians to play on the grass next to the cistern, if the weather is poor then they will play in the drawing room of the Dunnottar Castle grounds.
Regular ticket entry prices apply for Dunnottar Castle £6 for adults, £2 for children and £14 for families.
Last week organisers said it had been hugely satisfying to see an almost daily increase in the number of people seeking out information about the festival through its Facebook page. Popular events such as the established World Paper and Comb championships and Aqua Ceilidh at the Stonehaven Open Air Pool will also be returning this year.
