The final took place at The Cow Shed Restaurant and Cook School in Banchory with seven finalists competing in the battle of the bakes.

The competition took the style of the BBC’s popular series, the Great British Bake Off.

Lucky finalists were Skye from Banchory, Annabel from Stonehaven, Lizzie of Mid Deeside South, Claire of Mid Deeside North, Bethany of Newtonhill and Distict, Elin from Mearns and Morven of Lower Deeside.

The girls qualified from their unit heats after impressing tasters with their decorated fairy cakes.

The competition heated up as the star bakers went through to the District heats.

There they demonstrated their skills with delicious sponge cakes.

The final was a tough day with the girls baking jam-filled Victoria sponges and decorating them as birthday cakes in just two- and-a-half hours.

Cow Shed owner, Graham Buchan, judged the bakes and Morven was the Bake Off champion.

She was delighted to take home the customised Brownie Bake Off apron and Cocoa-Ooze voucher.

Competition organiser Liz Ritchie said: “I can’t believe how calm the Brownies have been .

‘‘There seemed to be more nerves in the parent and leaders room than in the kitchen!”
