Stonehaven and District Community Council (SDCC) held their first public meeting this week after a period of absence.
The meeting was held at the Invercarron Resource Centre on Tuesday evening where they will hold future meetings, normally on the second Tuesday of the month.
Lorna Elliott is the new chair and community councillors held an informal meeting last month to get to know each other. Barbara Mathie was elected vice-chair, Paul Lindop treasurer and Alistair Lawrie as secretary at the previous meeting.
Residents of Kirkton of Fetteresso were in attendance on Tuesday to voice their displeasure at plans for 49 houses to be built on a site adjacent to Fetteresso Cemetery.
Residents have concerns about the site, including fears of a flooding risk, sloping, conservation and traffic management.
The plans are currently under consideration, with SDCC putting together their comments as a statutory consultee for planning applications.
The decision taken by a vote of 16 to one was to ask the developer for an Environmental Impact Assessment.
If one was not forthcoming, then they would object to the development.
