Laura Greig and friend Josephine Widdowson have started a five day cycle challenge this week all for their chosen charities.

Laura, from Inverbervie, will be raising funds for the Davy Crabb Mearns Foundation a local, registered charity, set up in memory of Davy Crabb who lost his battle with cancer in December 2007.

The five day challenge which started on Wednesday will see the pair travel to Fort William, Climb Ben Nevis and back again.

Laura said: “ Training has been hard work, but it is required for such a demanding challenge. I have had so much support from friends and family over the last few months.

“I’m feeling nervous and excited. It will be a massive achievement for me, not only completing the challenge but raising money for the foundation. I’d like to thank all the sponsors so far, we are £150 away from £1000 target.”

Their charity challenge will see them cycle from Stonehaven to Pitlochry on day one, Cycle from Pitlochry to Fort William on day two, climb Ben Nevis on Day three before making their way back to Stonehaven Harbour on day 5 via Pitlochry on day 4.

Laura’s online fundraising page states: “To continue the fundraising, Ryan and I are organising another charity day starting at the football pitches in Fettercairn on 25th July 2015. Come along to watch the ex Mearns United players battle it out for the Cup with a much needed Bbq at halftime.

“In the evening, the Davy Crabb Mearns Foundation will take over the Station Hotel for a Race Night.” More information at
