Former Mill O’ pupil’s charity cycle

A former pupil of Mill O’ Forest School, along with one of his friends cycled more than 1000 miles across the country to raise money for the charity All you need is love.

Fifteen-year-old Liam Burnett and his friend 16-year-old Daniel Spiers decided to take on the challenge after Liam visited Mae Sot in May as part of his work experience week from school to meet the children of migrant Burmese workers who were fortunate enough to be receiving some formal education which is essential to improving their future and that of future generations.

After all the trauma they had suffered already in their lives, they remain positive about their futures. Liam learned a great deal from the children he met.

The two teenagers decided to spend some of their School holidays cycling from Lands End to John O Groats, a trip of 1086 miles.

The boys cycle experienced some inclement weather and they journeyed through

some extremely busy cities, up and down some very steep hills and along rugged coastlines.

The boys said it had been an amazing personal challenge for the two boys giving them memories to last a lifetime.

So far the boys have raised over £2000 for the charity and donations can be made directly to or through the boys blog

All You Need Is Love is a charitable organisation that focuses on the many thousands of children that exist in and around the Thai-Burma border in Mae Sot, Thailand.
