Stonehaven TSB customers have helped their local bank smash its fundraising target for their chosen charity of the year.
The Stonehaven TSB branch has been raising money for CLAN Cancer Support over the last year and had set out with an initial target of £500.
However the generosity of its customers has been overwhelming and a total of £1,428.78 was raised.
Money was donated through bake sales, a Christmas Hamper, bottle stall and a second hand book stall.
The bank allowed its customers to choose the branch’s charity of the year and CLAN was put forward by Meg Stephen.
Meg had cancer herself and sadly passed away in December last year.
Her daughter Della and son Jim went along to the bank on Thursday, July 4 to present the money to CLAN local service co-ordinator Suzi Will.
Suzi said the money raised would help to pay for 70 counselling sessions or complimentary therapy sessions.
She added: “We are really grateful for the support locally and as we are totally self-funded the money will help us support people affected by cancer.”
