Staff from local food ingredients manufacturer, Macphie of Glenbervie have raised £5000 for two local charities.

The Stonehaven Kidney Dialysis Unit and the Aberdeen branch of the British Heart Foundation were presented with £2,500 each as a result of a Charity Race Night.

Over 140 employees of Macphie along with friends and family attended the successful race night held at their Glenbervie premises.

Capt. Oliver Signorini, Chairman of the Aberdeen Branch of the British Heart Foundation, collected the cheque for £2,500.

He said: “I would like to thank the management of Macphie of Glenbervie, their Charities Committee and the local community, for raising this magnificent sum of money. This support makes the cutting-edge heart research and all the work we fund possible.”

The Stonehaven Dialysis Unit also received £2,500, with Kay Lohoar collecting the cheque on behalf of the group.

She said: “Thank-you to all at Macphie who made this donation possible. Everyone’s generosity means we’re one step closer to reaching our target.”

Chief Executive Alastair Macphie said, “The event was a great success, made possible by the hard-working charities committee and all suppliers and customers who kindly donated raffle prizes on the night, including corporate tickets to Manchester United. As a result, we have been able to donate £2500 to each of our chosen charities, both worthy causes.”
