Kayleigh Alaszewski (13), a pupil of Sharon Sorrie’s Dance Dimensions in Portlethen, competed in the Junior Scottish Ballet Championships and took third place.

The championships were held in Helensburgh, Glasgow and Kayleigh competed against 50 other dancers from all over Scotland.

Kayleigh had to qualify to take part in the competition and went on to finish in the top three in Scotland.

Dance school proprietor Sharon Donaldson said: “I am so proud of what Kayleigh has achieved at such a young age. She is a credit to the dance school and a role model for younger children.”

The dance school is run at the Bourtree Hall, Portlethen, teaching 2 to 19 year old Tap, Ballet and Modern. Students compete in competitions all over Scotland and also work towards Examinations in B.A.T.D (British Association of Teachers of Dancing).

Kayleigh has danced with Sharon since the age of three and has had a lot of success in competition, winning numerous medals and trophies.

Kayleigh also gained the highest marks for all her exams. She just loves to dance and her dream is to become a successful dancer.
