A North-east politician has welcomed a new flood protection strategy that includes millions of pounds coming to Aberdeenshire.
Aberdeen South and North Kincardine MSP Maureen Watt has welcomed the announcement of a new ten year strategy to protect Scotland’s most flood-prone communities.
This includes funding of more than £7 million for projects in Aberdeenshire this year.
The plan was announced by the First Minister earlier this week.
MSP Watt said: “Aberdeenshire was devastated by floods earlier this year.
“The impact on local communities was wide felt, and many more people are still living with the effects of damage to their homes and businesses.
“It will be welcome news that this new strategy will help protect households from the impact of heavy rain and storms in the future.
“I am proud that our government set out to work quickly in partnership with local government on this issue. Protecting those vulnerable households, businesses, and communities takes investment.”
