Kincardine and Mearns area committee have this afternoon unanimously refused Plans in principle for a large development on land to the south west of Stonehaven at Kirkton of Fetteresso.
The proposals include plans for 1500 homes, a supermarket, school and community facilities, a health centre and dentist, retail and business units.
Concerns had been raised by residents about drainage and flood risk, impact on the character of Stonehaven, education capacity shortfall, loss of agricultural land and the impact on the town centre.
The committee’s decision will be reporter to Full Council on November 20 for a final decision.
