Laurencekirk Gala Week is in full swing, and a packed programme has meant that every day has seen something new for the community to enjoy.
The Crowning ceremony of this year’s Gala Princess, Hannah Smith, took place on Sunday at Laurencekirk parish Church, with 2014 princess Sarah Slessor passing on the crown.
This was followed by a traditional Cream tea at the Dickson Hall. Monday saw a Kids Club, pre-school fancy dress disco with Laurencekirk Palygroup, Beauty Session and Gala Musical Concert among other highlights, and on Tuesday there was a competition for the Best Pets which was very well attended, as well as an activity day at the Scout Hall. The much loved tea Dance is to take place today (Thursday July 16) at the Masonic Hall from 2-4.30pm
Kirstie Moar from the Gala committee said: “We are thrilled that all our events have run brilliantly and have been so well supported by the community and the community groups who have helped run them, in many cases taking full responsibility for them, have been invaluable. It is hard to pick any one event as a highlight for us so far, but the Musical Gala Concert on Monday evening was absolutely superb and extremely popular.
But the fun is only just beginning as preparations are underway for Gala Day this Saturday (July 18).
Back by popular demand is the decorated bicycle competition.
St Laurence Football Club have organised some games, The Scratch Squad Dog Flyball team will be giving a demonstration and there will be the usual Bonny Baby competitions, donut eating competition and fun and games for kids and adults alike.
