Luthermuir’s 30th birthday bonanza!

The current Luthermuir Village Hall is 30 years old this year and to celebrate, the Committee have organised a packed Gala Week from June 8-14.

To kick off the week on Monday June 8 there will be a Potted Sports event for primary school age children in the park after school, with burgers and juice afterwards. In the evening, there’s a quiz night in Scots Corner, starting at 7.30pm. Tuesday June 9 sees a Bingo night in the Hall at 7.30pm with lots of prizes to be won.

Going for something a bit different on the cookery demo front, this year there will be “Cocktails, Canapés & Dips” on Wednesday June 10, when Susan and Janet will share some of their recipes for party food and drinks. Tickets are on sale now and include a welcome drink and tasters during the evening.

Karen McCagh Spiritualist Medium will visit the Hall on Thursday June 11 for an Evening of Mediumship. Karen brings evidence from the spirit world that touches the hearts of those searching for answers. This is an over 16`s event. Doors open at 7pm for 7.30pm start. Refreshments will be served in the interval. Tickets cost £10.

A touch of glamour and intrigue comes to Luthermuir on Friday June 12 when there will be a James Bond Casino night, run by Aberdeen Fun Casino.

Tickets cost £15 and include gaming chips and a welcome drink. There will be prizes for Best Dressed Bond, Best Bond Girl and Best Bond Villain and it promises to be a fun night. This event will not have a bar, so bring your own martinis – shaken, not stirred of course!

If you didn’t manage to get tickets to T in the Park this year, don’t worry, Luthermuir is having its very own version… Afternoon Tea in the Park! Book your table now for either a full afternoon tea or the lighter version of strawberry cream tea, with an optional glass of Prosecco, 2-4pm on Saturday June 13. Live music is being provided by South Esk Strings. Also in the park on Saturday afternoon will be a Teddy Bears’ Picnic so bring along your best pal for some fun and games.

Gala Day itself is on Sunday June 14 1-4.30pm. Headlining the Gala this year we have The Balloon Mannies, McFlea Flea Circus Show performing with their magical fleas throughout the afternoon. Northern Lights Agility Club are doing an agility display and will also do have a go agilty so bring your pooches along and have a go. Links Archers will be there so come along and try your hand. Fairground rides, bouncy castle, inside and outside stalls. Brechin Cadets will be there demonstrating some of the things they do. New for this year is Adult Hungry Hippos the human version of the popular children`s game! Burgers, ice-cream and teas and coffees will be available throughout the afternoon. We also have an art display in the hall from local artists as well as many other attractions.

To round off a very busy week, Pepperpot will play in the Hall for the Grand Finale on Sunday night 8pm-11pm Scots Corner will run the bar at this event and are also providing the stovies which are included in the cost of the ticket. Tickets cost £10 for adults £7 for children and a family ticket can be purchased for two adults two children costing £30

The annual Gala Raffle tickets are selling well, boosted by the support of Laurencekirk Co-op – many thanks to the manager and staff for the opportunity to sell tickets in the foyer last Saturday.
