Mackie Academy has handed over a cheque for £16,000 for the appeal for a kidney dialysis machine in Stonehaven.

The money was raised by pupils who took part in a sponsored walk.

They chose one local charity to benefit.

Makie Academy acting rector, Jennifer Macdonald, said they were “delighted” by the amount raised.

She said: “We were very happy to be able to hand over such a substantial sum of money-thanks in no small part to the generosity of our business partner company Nexen who once again met the cost of the transport from the school to the start and from the finish back to the school - approximately £2800.

‘‘We would also like to acknowledge the generosity of Derek Sedge of A and I motors, who provided us with a minibus at no cost to use as the rescue vehicle during the walk.”
